Valerian root extract is most commonly used for sleep disorders, especially the inability to sleep (insomnia). Studies have shown that taking valerian extracts can reduce the amount of time it takes to fall asleep by about 15 to 20 minutes. Valerian is also taken by mouth for anxiety and psychological stress. It acts as a sedative on the brain and nervous system giving a sense of relief and calmness. It is also used to manage post-menopausal symptoms. Daily intake of the valerian root extract reduces the severity and frequency of hot flushes in post-menopausal women. Usage One capsule to be taken once daily.
